Painting Banksy Pulp Fiction (unsigned, 2004) - Banksy

Banksy's Pulp Fiction first appeared in 2002 as large graffiti near Old Street station in London. The artwork depicts arguably the most iconic scene from Quentin Tarantino's famous film: Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta stand side by side, their firearms pointed synchronously at a person outside the frame.

In a humorous and ironic twist, however, their guns have been replaced by Banksy with yellow bananas. This pulls the scene into something harmless, even ridiculous, and Banksy succeeds in making a strong statement against guns, violence and war.

The original was painted over by the London Transport Authority in 2007 - on the grounds that the artwork would spread the atmosphere of social decay. But the motif still enjoys great popularity today. Our screen print is one of 600 limited copies produced in 2007.
